Baby Cyrano Ameiss is an Eclectus
Parrot. He is a Vosmaeri (Eclectus roratus vosmaeri) species.
Cyrano was hatched May 3, 2001. We adopted Cyrano on August 15, 2001,
and he has quickly become a very loved, and very loud, member of the Ameiss
family.
This is Cyrano in his new
home. It is elaborately furnished with lots of play toys, a swing,
and many food and water dishes. He loves to hang upside down from
the top of the arched roof. The first time he did this he fell flat
on his head because he didn't have the foot strength to hold on.
He hasn't done that again.
Time for Cyrano's formula.
He is still being weaned and every night at 7:00 o'clock he gets his fill
from a syringe of a special bird formula. His daddy would keep him
on the formula forever, because he likes feeding the BABY, and the baby
enjoys eating and wearing the formula!
Quality time all around.
Daddy with Cyrano and Molly. You respect a bird that is almost as
big as you are.
Don't I look happy - NOT - but mom and dad say I have to wear this silly old harness if I want to go outside. I'm not sure I even want to be outside. It's very big out here. I guess I'll learn to deal with it so that I can play in the grass, eat bugs and chase cats.
So dad, can we talk.
It's so humiliating (a bird on a leash). Dogs wear leashes.
They are big, furry, have lots of teeth, no beak, and are NOT green.
See, I'm green. I'm a bird. Bird's DO NOT wear leashes.
But since you say I look pretty in this thing, I'll give it a try.
I just hope the neighbors aren't watching!
